The Hospices de Beaune is famous thanks to the prestigious vineyards of Burgundy.
The museum of the Hospices de Beaune presents a collection of 5 000 objects. Come and discover the burgundian, famous for its wine producing. With its varnished roofs, the
Hôtel-Dieu has become a symobl of
Burgundy. This monument was an ancient hospital built by Nicolas Rolin at the 15th century. The hospital received the patients for free, from the 15th century to the 20th century.
Program The court: Rectangular shape, you can see a gothic well and admire the different buildings with varnished roofs. The varnished tiles have 4 colors (red, brown, yellow and green) and have geometric shapes.
The chapel: Part of the « Pôvres » room. It’s decorated, since its origin by the polypytch of the last judgment, of the painter Rogier Van der Weyden.
The Sainte-Anne room: Located at west, next to the « Pôvres » rooms, it was only composed of 4 beds.
The Saint-Hugues room: Neighbor of the Sainte-Anne room, it was created at the 17th century and was composed of a few beds for the richest patients. It’s remarkable for its wall painting of Isaac Moillon.
The Saint-Nicolas room: At the north west of the court, its actually an exhibition room on the history of the Hospice and its vineyards.
The kitchen: There is a great chimney and furniture of the 17th century.
Prices Individuals: 6, 50€ per person
Groups of more than 10 persons: 5, 50€ per person
Tickets schedule March 20, 2010 to November 21, 2010: from 9am to 6:30pm
November 22, 2010 to March 25, 2011: from 9am to 11:30am and from 2pm to 5:30pm
The last visitors can stay one hour after the closing of the tickets sale.
